Twitter, now known as X, is a big meme generator.
You are bound to see a picture, video, or a reference that completely goes over your head while you scroll. That's kind of the norm, and the latest meme is no exception.
Users across social media platforms, mainly X but also on TikTok, have been urged to look between certain letters on their keyboard in an attempt to decipher a punchline. "Look between H and L on your keyboard," users are prompted, for instance. The letters between "H" and "L" are "JK," as in, "just kidding."
It's a trend that emerged in the last few days, with some users reporting that they are already over it while others continue to engage with the "frustrating" content.
Most everyone has gotten in the fun, creating their own unique version based on their "brand." That includes the New England Patriots.
Some social media users are sick of the trend, calling it 'useless'
Not everyone has been happy to participate in the meme, with some users saying the trend makes "no sense."
A look at some of the best, worst 'between the keyboard' memes online
Here's a look at the meme in action, which encompasses a wide range of jokes across topics, including relationships, football and pop culture.
Meme emerged before this year
This isn't the first-time users have been tasked with looking between certain letters on the keyboard to try and understand the joke, with Business Insider reporting that the trend first emerged on 4chan in May 2021.
An X user referenced that 4chan post, writing on Friday that no one can will ever beat the original, attaching a photo of Yui Hirasawa, a main character in a popular anime series, with a caption that encourages users to "look between t and o on your'e key bored" which produces the letters that make up the character's first name.
